Mr. McMurtry

Jeffrey J. McMurtry, 62, of Kempner died at his home on July 31, 2022. He was born on Sept. 23, 1959 in Minnesota to James and Ellen McMurtry. Mr. McMurtry had lived in Kempner since 2011, moving there from Boerne. He and Patricia were married on June 18, 1988, in Colorado.

Mr. Spurlin

Roy J. Spurlin, 94, of Gallipolis, Ohio and formerly of Lampasas, Texas, died on July 30, 2022 at Holzer Senior Care in Gallipolis, Ohio. He was born on May 29, 1928 in Post, Texas, son of the late Jerry and Susie Bingham Spurlin. Roy was a supply clerk in the Civil Service Division for the U.S.

Mrs. Perkins

Carolyn Ann Perkins, 85, of Lampasas died on Aug. 1, 2022. Services will be held at First Baptist Church in Lampasas on Aug. 5 at 10 a.m., with visitation an hour prior. Interment will follow at Townsen Cemetery in Adamsville. Carolyn was born on March 3, 1937, in Lampasas to T.C.

Mr. Bass

Troy Clinton Bass, 44, of Copperas Cove died on July 31, 2022. Troy was born April 18, 1978 in Lampasas to parents Vance Bass and Mamie (Perry) Jones. Troy was a man who cared for others. For 22 years he worked as a paramedic in Lampasas County, taking care of the community.

Mrs. Shroyer

Peggy Ann Shroyer, 87, died on July 18, 2022, at her home in Lampasas. A private service will be held on Aug. 12 at 5:30 p.m. A livestream will be available on the Livingway Family Church YouTube page. Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel has charge of arrangements. Peggy was born on Aug.

Mr. Nixon

Edward Jay Nixon, 82, was a world traveler and lived many places, but he made his home in Kempner with his wife, Sandy Nixon. Ed died at his home on July 17, 2022 from natural causes. Ed was born Dec. 10, 1939 in Central Lake, Michigan to Margaret (Dillingham) Nixon and Gerald Edward Nixon.

Mrs. Reynolds

Sable Annie (Vann) Reynolds, 92, died on July 26, 2022 at AdventHealth Rollins Brook hospital in Lampasas. A memorial service will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel at 10 a.m. July 30, with visitation beginning at 9 a.m. Burial will follow at Smith Cemetery in Kempner. Sable was born on Nov.

Ms. White

Nita V. White was born on Jan. 31, 1928, to Syble and Raymond Smith at her grandparents’ house in Briggs, and she died peacefully on July 23. Memorial services are scheduled for July 30 at 10 a.m. at Dossman Funeral Home in Belton. Graveside services will follow at Davis Cemetery in Briggs.

Mrs. Lancaster

Mona Faye Rucktashel Lancaster, 76, of Lampasas died at her home on July 24, 2022. Services will be held July 29 at First Street Church of Christ at 2 p.m., with visitation an hour prior. Interment will follow at School Creek Cemetery. Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel has charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Leonardo

Joy Velasco Leonardo, 78, died at her home in Lampasas on July 20, 2022. She was born on March 31,1944 in Angeles City, Philippines. Joy grew up in Santiago Isabella, Philippines where she graduated from La Salette High School.
