Roy J. Spurlin, 94, of Gallipolis, Ohio and formerly of Lampasas, Texas, died on July 30, 2022 at Holzer Senior Care in Gallipolis, Ohio.
He was born on May 29, 1928 in Post, Texas, son of the late Jerry and Susie Bingham Spurlin.
Roy was a supply clerk in the Civil Service Division for the U.S. Army, stationed at Fort Hood, Texas.
Roy was a member of Chapel Hill Church of Christ in Gallipolis, Ohio, and served as an elder at Broad Street Church of Christ in Lampasas, Texas. He enjoyed spending his time hunting, fishing and woodworking.
Roy was married to the late Margaret Ann (Elliott) Spurlin of Gallipolis, Ohio.
He is survived by a son, Terry (Christi) Spurlin of Gallipolis, Ohio; grandchildren Cole (Ciara Small) Spurlin of Patriot, Ohio and Erica (Wyatt) Hall of Proctorville, Ohio; great-grandchildren Henry and Samuel Hall of Proctorville, Ohio; and a sister, Stella Swafford of Carlsbad, New Mexico.
In addition to his parents and wife, Roy was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Spurlin.
Visitation with the family was held Aug. 2 at Willis Funeral Home, and the funeral service followed at noon, with Roy Wray officiating. A military service and his burial followed in Flagsprings Cemetery.
