Robert Alexander 'Bob' Behlau, 70, died on Aug. 9, 2026, in Lampasas.
Graveside services will be held at the Davis Family Cemetery, located near Briggs and Rocky Creek, on Aug. 22 at 11 a.m. Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel has charge of arrangements.
Robert was born on March 6, 1956, in San Antonio to Walter George 'Joe' Behlau and Bobbye Alexander Behlau.
He grew up in San Antonio and graduated from Douglas MacArthur High School in 1975. After high school, he attended Sul Ross State University in Alpine, where he received his Bachelor of Science in agriculture in 1980.
After college, his passion for livestock led him to Ross, a small Central Texas town, where he became a livestock inspector for the state of Texas in McLennan County. He eventually took a break from livestock and became a car salesman, operating his own car lot in Ross off Interstate 35.
While he loved buying and selling cars and listed himself as a 'retired car salesman,' it wasn't long before he would return to the livestock business. After the death of his uncle, Donald Davis Alexander, Robert moved to Lampasas to keep the family ranch in business during tough times. He would spend some of the best years of his life on that Alexander ranch, working the same routes as his Uncle Donny and teaching the kids about the outdoors.
When his time with the ranch came to an end, he moved to Aquilla, where he opened an RV park before eventually returning to Lampasas in 2015.
Since 2015, Robert has lived in Lampasas, operating a mobile home community his late parents left behind while also keeping the Alexander Ranch name active in livestock.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his son, Payton Behlau of West; his daughter, Lana Hunt of Bedford; grandchildren Isabella Behlau and Zara Behlau; his ex-wife, Karen Behlau of West; his cousin, Jill Savoini; and his longtime family caregiver, Betsy Amador.
