Lampasas man saves driver from burning vehicle

Brandon Roedler’s actions during an early-morning drive Sunday have earned him the label “hero.” While on Hoover Valley Road about five miles outside of Burnet, Roedler saw a burning vehicle with a man stuck inside and knew he needed to act.

Dove season on the horizon; game warden highlights new hunting law

A new law regarding hunting and the discharge of firearms on public waterways goes into effect today, and it could change how some people hunt this season. Starting Sept. 1, it is illegal for members of the public to hunt with rifles, pistols or bows on public waterways in the state of Texas.

Camp Cowboy holds graduation ceremony

Cowboy celebrated another graduating class on Aug. 25. Located at Robison Ranch in Kempner, the camp is a nonprofit organization founded by veterans that provides free equine-assisted growth programs to service members, first responders and their families.

CATTLE AUCTION

The report from the Aug. 30 Lampasas Cattle Auction follows. Cattle and calves: Total cattle 525, compared to 544 last sale and 308 at this time last year. Compared to last sale, feeder steers and heifers were unevenly steady due to quality.

Fish fry to raise funds for His Kids ministry

Pearl Church of Christ will host its annual Atchley Fish Fry and Auction on Sunday after the 10:30 a.m. service. Proceeds from the event benefit the His Kids youth ministry in Lampasas as well as scholarships for local graduates. The church is located at 6790 FM 183 in Pearl.

LISD trustees approve budget, panic alarm system
