Authorities: former Lampasas County sheriff shoots wife, then self

Lampasas-area law enforcement confirmed that a shooting on Cameron Drive Thursday morning ended with the death of the shooter. Officials on scene confirmed the shooter as former Lampasas sheriff Gordon Earl Morris.

Alleged shooter barricaded inside Lampasas home
Update: Law enforcement authorities have confirmed the situation as diffused as of 2:14 p.m. Lampasas Police have surrounded a home on Cameron Drive following a shooting that occurred there this morning. According to the department’s social media page, at approximately 10:41 a.m.

Commissioners Court agrees to remove benefits for constable post

After listening to advice from the county’s sole constable, the Lampasas County Commissioners Court agreed on Monday to remove taxpayer- funded benefits for the position.
Bob Montgomery is the sole constable, after the resignation last month of Precinct 2&3 Constable Misty Maldonado.
