Alleged shooter barricaded inside Lampasas home

Update: Law enforcement authorities have confirmed the situation as diffused as of 2:14 p.m.

Lampasas Police have surrounded a home on Cameron Drive following a shooting that occurred there this morning.  

According to the department’s social media page, at approximately 10:41 a.m. Thursday, Lampasas Police Department responded to a shooting at a home on Cameron Drive.

Police said one victim has been transported to an area hospital by Hamilton EMS. LPD, Lampasas Sheriff's Department officers, and Texas DPS officers are attempting to make contact with the victim's husband, who is believed to be barricaded inside the residence.

“At this time, we have no reason to believe that anyone else is in danger,” officials said at 1 p.m.

At 1:30 p.m., officials stated this is currently an on-going situation and the following road closures should be noted: W 1st Street from Porter Street to Steele Street is closed; Steele Street from W 1st Street to Matthews is closed; Cameron Drive and Bigham Street are closed.

A Dispatch Record reporter on scene confirmed the presence of Texas State Police at the incident as well as a tactical unit at 1:41 p.m.
