Longtime cafe owner, Spring Ho festival founder Gary Martin dies

Gary Martin, who managed Martin’s Restaurant for more than 40 years, died at his home in Lampasas on Oct. 24, 2021. A graveside service will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery on Oct. 31 at 1 p.m. Gary was born in Marble Falls on May 26, 1936 to Delbert James Martin and Stella Eloise Alderson Martin.

Mrs. Glasscock

Karen Irvine Glasscock, 78, of Lampasas died Oct. 23, 2021. She was born June 28, 1943 at Rollins Brook Hospital in Lampasas, the daughter of Robert and Ava (Brooks) Irvine of Rumley. Karen was raised in Rumley, the second child of six children.

Mr. Barlow

Darian Nelson Duane Barlow, 21, died on Oct. 16, 2021. He was born on Nov. 22, 1999 in Temple to Tony Duane Barlow and Tammy Jo Guthrie Fagan. Darian was an aspiring musician and singer. His stage name was Ybeezo. He attended Lampasas High School and was a Badger football and basketball player.

Mr. Mowell

Kendall Lee Mowell, 63, of Killeen died on Oct. 16, 2021 at Kindred Hospital in Arlington, Texas. Visitation will be held at Sneed Funeral Chapel in Lampasas from 9-9:30 a.m. Oct. 23. A prelude concert will start at 10 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, followed by the funeral service at 10:30 a.

Mr. Barker

Charles Dean “Charlie” Barker, a longtime resident of Lampasas and Lampasas County, died Oct. 16, 2021 in Llano. Charles was born on Sept. 6, 1941 to George Barker Jr. and Fannie Lorene Klose Barker. He graduated from Lampasas High School in 1960.

Mr. Love

Bob Patrick Love, 79, of Copperas Cove died on Oct. 13, 2021 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Bob was born March 17, 1942 to Cyril and Marion Love in Alice, Texas. He graduated from Lampasas High School in 1960. Bob married Mary Phillips on Aug. 1, 1963.

Mr. Loya

Alehandro Ayala Loya Jr., 58, of Copperas Cove died at his residence on Oct. 11, 2021. He was born on March 30, 1963 in Abilene to Alehandro Ayala Loya Sr. and Santos Carrion Loya. Alehandro and Nina Ramirez were married on April 11, 1981 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Lampasas.

Mr. Carroll

Richard James Carroll, 68, of Kempner died on Oct. 10, 2021. A time of remembrance will be held Oct. 24 from 2-6 p.m. at Camp Caylor, 146 CR 4814 in Copperas Cove. Richard was born on Jan. 17, 1953 to the late Norman and Lois Hodge Carroll in Sharon, Pennsylvania.

Mr. Rice

David Owen Rice, 74, of Lampasas died in Lampasas on Oct. 12, 2021. He was born on Dec. 1, 1946, in Findlay, Ohio to Lester Rice and Ruth Ede Rice. He had lived in Lampasas for the past three years, after moving from San Antonio. David married Faithann Smith on Feb. 14, 1989 in Copperas Cove.

Mrs. Cohee

Rita Carol Cohee, 73, of Kempner died on Oct. 8, 2021, at her residence. Rita was born on Jan. 22, 1948 in Cameron to Ernest and Fay Glaser. She loved gardening, had a green thumb, and neighbors often called her "The Flower Lady.
