Richard James Carroll, 68, of Kempner died on Oct. 10, 2021.
A time of remembrance will be held Oct. 24 from 2-6 p.m. at Camp Caylor, 146 CR 4814 in Copperas Cove.
Richard was born on Jan. 17, 1953 to the late Norman and Lois Hodge Carroll in Sharon, Pennsylvania.
He grew up in Hermitage, Pennsylvania and graduated from Hickory High School in 1971.
Richard was a lifetime auto mechanic who was always tinkering on someone’s car. He worked close to 20 years at Sarvas Dodge as a mechanic. In his later years, he worked for Duferco Steel in Farrell, Pennsylvania.
When he wasn’t working or spending time with family, he would be outdoors. Richard loved to hunt and collect guns, which was his passion. He also loved to play guitar, and to create paintings and drawings, which he often gave away. Richard had many friends in Hermitage and loved his hometown.
Richard was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Carroll; infant sister, Cindy Carroll; and a nephew, Chad Hoagland.
Richard is survived by his two daughters, Carrie Carroll, and Kaitlyn Carroll and her boyfriend, Andrew “Andy” Rozelle; their mother, Paula Carroll; a sister, Anna Lee Hoagland; two grandsons, Kaleb Hess and Kayden Hess; and several nieces and nephews.
