Mrs. Ross

Betty J. Smith Ross of Lampasas died on Dec. 3, 2023 after a battle with cancer. She was 61. Betty was born on Oct. 12, 1962 to Lavell “Doc” and Jewell Smith in Lampasas.

Mrs. Shrader

Jane Claire Field Shrader, 88, died peacefully on Nov. 11, 2023, in Burnet after a long illness. Memorial services will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel in Lampasas on Dec. 27, 2023, at 10 a.m. Interment following the service will be private.

Mr. Worsham

Jerry “Buddy” Shawn Worsham Jr., 19, died on Nov. 29, 2023. Visitation will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel in Lampasas on Dec. 9 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Graveside services will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Buddy was born on Dec. 19, 2003, to Jerry Shawn Worsham Sr.

Mrs. Cowan

The family of Laura Cowan has announced her death on Nov. 25, 2023. Laura was a beacon of warmth and kindness. Her generosity knew no bounds, and she had an ability to make others feel valued and loved.

Mr. Walton

Winston Walton died Nov. 18, 2023, after a long illness. Born July 27, 1942 in Hamilton, he was a teacher, a chemist, a builder and a fourth-generation rancher in Lampasas and Hamilton counties. Walton also served on the Lampasas Independent School District Board of Trustees from 1996-2002.

Mrs. Ellis

Thelma Louise Ellis, 85, died on Nov. 29, 2023 at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Round Rock. Visitation will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel in Lampasas on Dec. 3 from 5-7 p.m. Graveside services will be at Levita Cemetery in Levita on Dec. 4 at noon.

Mr. Detrick

Leslie Ronald Detrick, 84, of Lampasas died on Nov. 16, 2023, at his home. He was born on Aug. 20, 1939, in Portola, California to the late Leslie Wilford Detrick and Lillie Inez (Mason) Detrick. Les grew up in both California and Texas. He graduated from Clyde (Texas) High School in 1957.

Burn ban lifted

County Judge Randy Hoyer has temporarily lifted the order restricting outdoor burning that was implemented in October. Burning will be allowed from Dec. 1 until Dec. 14 at 6 p.m. Those who conduct a burn are asked to notify the sheriff’s office at 512-556-8255.

Mrs. Cowan

MRS. COWAN The family of Laura Cowan has announced her death on Nov. 25, 2023.  Born on June 12, 1967, Laura dedicated herself to spreading joy, lending a helping hand and creating a legacy of love. Her impact reached far beyond her immediate circle.

Mrs. Sanchez

Rosa Sanchez died on Nov. 19, 2023, at her home in Lampasas. She was born on Feb. 13, 1947, in Burnet to Bill Salazar Sr. and Felipa Salazar. Memorial services will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel in Lampasas on Nov. 29 at 2 p.m., with interment to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
