Joann Irene “GG” Morgan, 91, died March 15, 2024, with her family by her side.

Services were held at First Street Church of Christ on March 17, with visitation prior to the service.

Burial followed at Watson Cemetery. Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel had charge of arrangements.

Joann was born in Tahoka on Jan. 26, 1933, to James King Smedley and Ethel Ophelia (Jones) Smedley.

She had many jobs during her life, including working at Walmart when it first opened in Lampasas, running the stamp center at H-E-B, working at Lampasas Nursing and Rehabilitation, Mother’s Day Out at Grace Fellowship, and volunteering at nursing homes to help with social activities.

Her number-one job was being GG, and her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren events and showed up to anything they were involved in. She also was the caregiver for many of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren while their parents were at work.

For the past couple of years, she enjoyed making brownies daily for her great-grandchildren and their friends. She also loved her animals, loved children and never met a stranger.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Morgan; sisters Syble Nelson, Jean Szydlik and Dorothy Taylor; her brother, JW Smedley; a granddaughter, Kassie Baker; and great-grandson Mason Baker.

Survivors include her daughter, Lisa Baker and husband Vernon; sisterin- law, Dessie Smedley; grandchildren Jennifer Harris and husband JP, and Jessica Fincher and husband Justin; greatgrandchildren Jonathan and Kadi-Ann Harris, and Kaelie and Radley Fincher; and numerous other family members.

Memorial donations may be made to the Texas State Floral Association Endowment Fund, P.O. Box 859, Leander, TX 78646, in memory of her granddaughter Kassie Baker.
