Mrs. Carnes

Jacquelyn Lynn Carnes, 60, died at her home in Lampasas on May 31, 2026.

She was born in Galveston to Bennie Doyle Smith and Joyce Laverne (Hazel) Smith on March 14, 1966.

Jackie met the love of her life, Lee Carnes, in Cleveland, Texas in 1986, and they were married in 1987.

As a young couple they decided that Lee joining the military would be the best option for their family. Jackie made many sacrifices throughout her life as a military spouse and followed Lee wherever he was sent. She was always supportive of Lee's career choices.

Jackie was a caregiver by nature and took care of everyone including her in-laws Grady Carnes Jr. and Ruby Carnes. She was a hard worker and a friend to everyone. One rarely would see her without a Dr Pepper in her hand, and she was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. Above all, Jackie loved her grandchildren and would do anything for them.

Jackie was preceded in death by her parents; her nephews Christopher Smith and Garson Evans; and her brother-in-law, Mike Honc.

She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Lee Carnes; children Jordy Carnes and wife Brooke, Dusty Carnes, and Farrah Carnes; a brother, Bennie Smith and wife Linda; sisters Vicki Bazan and husband Armando, and Jennifer Reeves and husband Kelvin; grandchildren Raelynn Flowers, Marilee Carnes, Ainsley Cox and Ireland Carnes; sisters-in-law Beverly Miller and husband Bob, and Toni Honc; brothers-in-law Mark Honc, and Tim Carnes and wife Ally; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

A celebration of her life will be held at Lampasas Community Church on June 12 at 11 a.m. Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel has charge of arrangements.
