Mrs. Allen

Jewel Annis Allen, 94, a longtime resident of Lampasas, died on April 30, 2023.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. May 6 at Pidcoke Cemetery, with Bill Bales officiating. Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel of Lampasas has charge of arrangements.

Jewel was born in Sweetwater on April 25, 1929 to Lee and Beulah (Doyle) Love. She grew up in Gatesville and married her childhood sweetheart, Ray Allen Sr., on April 11, 1946. They settled in Lampasas in 1950.

Jewel was a homemaker who poured her heart into serving and loving her family, creating an inviting home, cooking great southern food, and passionately tending to her plants. She was a skilled crafter and loved a good bargain. Jewel never met a stranger and made everyone feel like family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Allen Sr.; her daughter, Judy (Allen) Albrect; her sisters Minnie Love, Louise Bonora, Maxine Wright and Ruthie McCorkle; and brother, Lee Roy Love.

Survivors include three sons, Ray Allen Jr. and wife Twila of Belton, Kyle L. Allen of Richland Hills, and Chris Allen of Austin; as well as seven grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
