Larry Joe Don Davis, 53, died on March 24, 2024, at his home in Kempner.

A service for Larry will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel in Lampasas at 1 p.m. on March 29.

He was born on May 25, 1970, in Hereford to Floyd and Mary Ellen (Huckert) Cline.

Larry grew up in Clovis, New Mexico. He graduated from Clovis High School in 1988.

He joined the United States Army in February 1990 and served his country until 2001 as a decorated Army Ranger and achieved the rank of staff sergeant. Larry served during Desert Storm and other campaigns including Somalia, Bosnia and the Iraq conflict.

During his years of service, Larry received the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal Award, Army Commendation Medal Fifth Award, Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, Ranger Tab and seven Army Achievement Medals.

After completing his military career, Larry continued his service to the United States military as a systems engineer with Netwerx Inc., and several years with Northrup Grumman.

The proudest moment of his career was being an integral part of the team that captured Saddam Hussein.

Larry married Janel in 2014 in Farwell, Texas. They were married for almost 10 years.

Larry enjoyed time with family and friends, and sharing his many hobbies that included fishing, hunting, golf, woodworking, and anything outdoors and athletic.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his uncle, Jimmy Huckert.

Larry is survived by his wife, Janel, of Kempner; children Brooke Davis, Hailey Davis, Kristen Stewart, Lauren (Jarrett) Holden, Tyler Stewart and Jordan (Justyn) Encinas; grandchildren Linliee and Laynie Holden, Justyn Jr. and Gabriel Encinas; siblings Mark (Traci) Davis, Chad (Crystal) Davis, Aaron (Megan) Cline, Christopher (Kassandra) Cline, Shari Cline and Wendy (Jeff) Barosh; his parents, Floyd and Mary Cline; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and his in-laws, Velma and M.D. Lovvorn.
