Michael “Mike” Glenn Ray, 62, of Lometa, died peacefully at home on Sept. 23, 2026, surrounded by his family after a brief battle with cancer.
Visitation was held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel in Lampasas on Sept. 27. Funeral services took place at Lampasas Community Church on Sept. 28 at 11 a.m. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Born Sept. 30, 1963, Mike was a true old-timer and good ol’ boy at heart. He was hardworking, found joy in the simple things, never met a stranger and could make himself at home just about anywhere. Above all, he loved his family. His wife, children and grandchildren were his greatest treasures, and he was happiest when surrounded by the people he loved.
Mike was the son of Keith and Juanita Ray of Lampasas. He graduated from Lampasas High School and earned a degree in civil engineering from Texas State Technical Institute. He worked for TxDOT for 27 years before retiring, then spent another eight years at M&M Custom Slaughter.
During his high school years, Mike participated in stock shows, a love that continued through his children and grandchildren.
In 1999, Mike married the love of his life, Lisa Hunter of Lampasas. Together, they joined two families and built a life filled with love, laughter and countless memories. Lisa was his best friend and partner through every season of life.
Mike had a way of making people feel welcome. He always had a story to share and could strike up a conversation wherever he went. He enjoyed camping, traveling, cooking, cookoffs and spending time outdoors. He loved good food and good company.
Some of Mike’s happiest moments, however, came from watching his grandchildren. Whether sitting in the stands, standing on the sidelines, or cheering them on at their activities, he was always there.
Mike is survived by his wife of 27 years, Lisa Ray of Lometa; his children, Kelsie Ray of Lampasas, and Shyhann Palacio and husband Ray of Mason; grandchildren Wilson, Rowdi, Shay, Scotlynn, Raider, Rigg, Ryker and Shawn; his mother, Juanita Ray; sisters Kathy Logsdon and husband Billy, and Karen Stoneham and husband Trey; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Richard Keith Ray, and his son, Brodie Kyle Ray.
The family requested that donations be made to the Lampasas County Stock Show Buyer’s Club or to the local 4-H.
