Museum’s Teddy Bear Tea Party set for May 4

Every year, children between the ages of 4 and 8 are invited to put on their party clothes and bring their favorite plush toy to the Lampasas County Museum’s Teddy Bear Tea Party. A storytime and brief etiquette lesson are offered, with apple juice “tea,” sandwiches, candy and cookies on the menu.

Church recognizes Girl Scout Sunday

Girl Scout Sunday was celebrated March 10 at First Presbyterian Church. Kenzie Woodfin and Kate Woodfin were liturgists for the worship service, and Torie Lesley was presented a thank-you gift for her leadership work and dedication to the Scouts of Lampasas. A luncheon was served after the service for Scouts and their families. Arts in the Park draws youth

The weather was perfect for this year’s Arts in the Park gathering hosted at Campbell Park by LAFTA volunteers. Families turned out in large numbers to enjoy the many activities, music, theatrical and dance performances.

Game camera captures stellar image

The Jones family hosted several visitors at its ranch during the eclipse, and many of them brought impressive camera equipment to capture the moment. Tonia Jones said her son AJ used a game camera he just bought for hunting purposes to help document the solar eclipse. “After seeing his pictures, I do believe his camera is capable of finding a tick on a deer’s behind from quite a great distance!” Jones said.

Two men dead Wednesday in connected shootings

Lampasas County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a double shooting incident that began in Killeen and ended in Lampasas County. According to a news release posted by Killeen Police Department, the KPD, Copperas Cove Police Department and Lampasas County Sheriff’s Department are investigating a shooting in Killeen on Wednesday and a connected shooting in Lampasas County that left two men dead.

Lampasas County 27th District Court convened last week with Judge John Gauntt presiding over the day’s hearings. Defendant Darrell Coleman Huffman of Killeen was sentenced to three years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice on each of four separate charges of theft of property less than $2,500 with two or more previous convictions.
