Health care contract approved for jail

The Lampasas County Commissioners Court voted this week to approve a contract between Turn Key Health Clinics and the Lampasas County Sheriff’s Office for the firm to provide medical services to inmates at the county jail.

My father was a Texas oilman and rancher who traveled all over the state for his business. Sometimes he would take me along on his road trips. My favorite thing would be when we stopped for lunch. Dad knew every good hole-in-the-wall barbecue place in Central and West Texas. We would always get some brisket and sometimes sausage links or ribs with onions, jalapenos, pickles and bread. No beans, potato salad or other sides were bought. I was taught that the meat was the reason we were there.

Fire off FM 2808 destroys motor home

Lampasas and Kempner firefighters responded to a motor home fire off FM 2808 on Sunday just before 11 a.m. County Fire Marshal Ronnie Withers said the property owner recently demolished a shed on the property, and the owner set fire to its remains Sunday in an attempt to incinerate the debris.
