Fireworks delight Spring Ho crowd

The annual Fireworks Show that follows Gospel Night music remains one of the more popular offerings during the Spring Ho festival. The banks of Sulphur Creek are a popular site to observe the pyrotechnics.

Speed limit lowered on Kempner street

In a narrow 3-2 vote, the Kempner City Council agreed to lower the speed limit on Sidewinder Street to 10 mph. The action came during Tuesday’s regular meeting after resident concerns were noted about the existing 30 mph limit on the street.

Competitors show off their skills at Spring Ho’s Dance Contest

The annual Spring Ho Dance Contest took place July 9 at Putters & Gutters Fun Center.Unlike in previous years, no overall contest winner was named, according to festival organizers.Other results follow.

Festival celebrates Grand Parade

The Spring Ho Festival celebrated its 53rd annual Grand Parade on Saturday morning. Many of the floats embodied this year’s theme: “Stars, Stripes, and Spring Ho Nights.”America’s Celebration secured grand champion honors for its float.Results for the parade are as follows.

Golden anniversary celebrated

On July 17, 1976, two months after their high school graduation, Vickie and Joey McQueen said their wedding vows and were married. They met in kindergarten in Ballinger in 1963 and have been sweethearts ever since. The McQueens are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on July 17, 2026.
