Lightning crosses the sky over Home Place Floors in downtown Lampasas Thursday evening. After one night of scattered storms, high temperatures rebounded to just shy of 100 degrees, and at press time were expected to reach the high 90s most of this week.

Street to be closed this week

The city of Lampasas has announced updated information on the temporary closure of Pecan Street.The block of Pecan Street from East Third to East Fourth will be closed from Sept. 1-5 to address parking lot restriping and road maintenance. Drivers should avoid this work zone in the downtown area.

Commissioners Court agrees to tax rate decrease for new fiscal year

The Lampasas County Commissioners Court has settled on a 2-cent tax rate decrease for the upcoming 2026-2027 fiscal year.Action came during Monday’s regular meeting after County Auditor Tragina Tallant provided a presentation on the new tax rate and budget during a public hearing.
