Former chamber of commerce administrator Jill Carroll dies

Jill Jones Carroll, who had served as director of the Lampasas County Chamber of Commerce for about 15 years, died at her Lampasas home on May 11, 2021. She was 46. Visitation was held May 13 at Heritage Funeral Home in Lampasas. The funeral service is May 14 at 10 a.m.

New Beginning of Restoration and Hope Pregnancy Resource Center invites residents of all ages to enter its Community Art Contest. All art mediums are welcome. Theme this year is “Faith, Friendship and Family.” Artwork may be dropped off at the NBRH center, 1920 U.S.

CATTLE AUCTION

The report from the May 5 Lampasas Cattle Auction follows. Cattle and calves: Total cattle 298, compared to 354 last sale and 474 at this time last year. Compared to last sale, feeder steers and heifers were steady. Slaughter cows were $1-$3 higher, and slaughter bulls were steady to $2 higher.

Car smashes into house

A car traveling at a high speed crashed into the garage roofline of a house at 203 S. Howe St. early Saturday morning, according to the Lampasas Police Department.

Railroad crossings on FM 1715, FM 2942 to close temporarily for maintenance

BNSF Railway and the Texas Department of Transportation have announced that two railroad crossing closures are expected later this week. On Friday, BNSF will close a section of Farm-to-Market Road 1715 in Lampasas County to perform maintenance on a railroad crossing.

GRADUATION

Graduation ceremonies for the Lampasas High School Class of 2021 will be May 21 at 7:30 p.m. at Badger Stadium. Gates will open at 6 p.m. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis, with no reserved seating.
