March sales tax allocations trend upward

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar has sent sales tax rebates to the cities, counties and special-purpose districts that levy these local taxes. The allocations for March are based on sales made in January by businesses that report tax monthly to the state.

Last week, students at Hanna Springs Elementary School celebrated Read Across America Week. The emphasis is inspired by Dr. Seuss’ birthday, which falls on March 2. The National Education Association labels March as Reading Month.

The town closes up at night The amount of traffic on Key Avenue lessened as the evening hours turned into night. In the 1960s, the light at North Avenue was set to flash between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6:30 a.m.
