Alzheimer’s caregiver support group to meet

The Alzheimer’s caregiver support group will meet March 17 at 10 a.m. in the conference room of the Lampasas County Office Building, 409 S. Pecan St. This group is offered by the Alzheimer’s Association, in partnership with the Area Agency on Aging of Central Texas.

Free tax prep offered

The AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is offering area residents assistance with income tax preparation on an appointment-only basis. The program is open to taxpayers of all ages. Volunteers are trained and IRS-certified. Appointments are offered on Tuesdays between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Authorities cite smoke on highway as cause of Monday-morning wreck

One person was injured in a highway collision Monday that authorities said was caused by thick smoke. Lampasas Police Department emergency call logs reported a major accident occurred on U.S. Highway 281 17 miles north of Lampasas at 11:45 a.m. Monday. Texas DPS Sgt.

Providing an update on education

District 10 State Board of Education member Tom Maynard of Florence spoke last week to the Lampasas County Republican Party. He was an agricultural science teacher for 13 years and then served 17 years as executive director of the Texas FFA Association before he retired from the post in 2017.
