Lady Badger Paige Rutland placed first individually, and Timber Gholson earned second for the Badgers at Lampasas Middle School’s golf tournament Monday at Hancock Park Golf Course. The LMS boys’ blue team placed second with a score of 214.

The Badger JV tennis team competed in windy conditions at a tournament at Killeen on Tuesday against mostly larger schools. Hannah Durbin went 3-1 on the day, taking third in girls’ singles.

Lampasas Middle School opened the spring tennis season at Brownwood on Monday. “It was a learning experience for all,” coach Laina White said.

On the first day of district track and field, Lampasas qualified for area in several field events. Field events and running prelims were held Wednesday in Brownwood, with running finals to follow at the same site Thursday after press time.

The Lampasas Middle School track teams traveled to Jarrell on Tuesday for the 2021 district meet. The seventh-grade boys claimed the district championship, while the eighth-grade boys earned second as a team.

Mia Maldonado drove in six runs, and Caitlyn Sanguinet pitched all six innings as the Lady Badgers run-ruled their second district opponent on Friday. With the 15-4 win at Brownwood, the Lady Badgers have outscored their first two district rivals by a combined 32-6.

The Badgers had a productive tennis tournament at Belton, with three to four matches per player, favorable weather and much-needed action as the district tournament nears. The mixed doubles team of Isabel Pronovost/ Rory Magill and the boys’ doubles team of Sam Zmolik/Mario Aguirre each won consolation.
