Salado takes district opener with great pitching performance

Sometimes in softball, a team runs into a buzzsaw in the form of an opposing pitcher. That was exactly what happened Tuesday night when the Lady Badgers opened district play against the Lady Eagles of Salado.Lampasas lost their district opener 9-1.

Last week was the second track meet of the season for both the Lampasas boys’ and girls teams and they ran their races at Lago Vista.Coach Cory Warner said several athletes achieved their season’s best, and many of them competed in their first meet of the season.Results from the meet follow.

The Lampasas soccer team showed some grit and fought back after being down 1-0 at the half against Gatesville last Friday to win 3-1.“At halftime, I knew we were going to be fine from the looks on this team’s face,” head coach Samuel Burnside said.

The Badger basketball team ran into a buzzsaw last Friday night, competing against the Navasota Rattlers. The area round of the playoffs took place in Thrall.The Badgers lost 76-47 in a game in which they fell behind early and never could make up that ground.
