Mary E. Juby, also known as “Nana Juby,” died March 12, 2025, in Lampasas.She was born on Nov. 1, 1927, in Georgetown into a large family of 10 siblings.Her father, Jesse James Chambers, and wife, Annie Lee Teague Chambers, moved to Briggs to find work as a sharecropper.

Marcus Coley Copeland, 77, of Crockett died on the morning of March 8, 2025, at Central Texas Veterans Hospital in Temple.Born on March 29, 1947 in Big Spring, Marcus was the son of the late Monroe W. Copeland and Rosezena Smart, a proud member of the Comanche Nation.

Billy Jack Garner died on March 6, 2025 at the age of 97.He was born on the family ranch in Lampasas to Milton Edward and Dicie Beatrice Garner. Jack and his twin brother Mack joined three older brothers in the family.While in Lampasas schools, he met the love of his life, Jo Ann Witcher.

Franklin David Cox of Lampasas died, surrounded by family, on Oct. 31, 2023.David was born in Lake Victor, Burnet County, to Elmer and Lola Cox.The large family moved to Lampasas, where David graduated from high school.David enlisted in the U.S. Army and served overseas during the Korean War.
