Doreen May Morris died on Nov. 9, 2023, at Lily Springs in Lampasas at the age of 85.
She was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Oct. 10, 1938, to Edward and Eleanora Krueger.
Doreen dedicated many years of her life to civil service, working as a computer programmer at Fort Hood. Her commitment to her work earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues. She retired as a GS13.
Outside of her career, Doreen brought her creativity to life through various hobbies. She found immense joy in crafts, spending hours creating pieces that captured the essence of her spirit. Her green thumb made her garden burst with color, and her culinary skills delighted friends and family who were lucky enough to taste her creations.
Doreen’s talent also extended to quilting, where she poured her love into creating cherished heirlooms.
Doreen also ran Granny M’s Ice Cream Shop in Lampasas.
She is survived by her three children, Roxanne Griffin and husband Ronnie of Lampasas, Cheryl Wessels of Pflugerville, and Dennis Morris and wife Betty of Burnet; her two siblings, Dawn Carteron of Greenwood, Wisconsin and Danny Krueger of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; grandchildren Margaret Mulloy of Pidcoke, Ginger Griffin of Lampasas, Lisa Mainey of Florida, Dennae Stooksbury of Tennessee and Justin Wessels of Austin; as well as 12 greatgrandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation took place Nov. 13 at 11 a.m., and a service followed at Heritage Funeral Home in Lampasas. Graveside services were held at Oak Hill Cemetery at 2 p.m.
