Mrs. Rush

Alice Elizabeth Langford Rush, 89, died on Aug. 23, 2021 at her home in Lometa.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Aug. 27 at School Creek Cemetery. Sneed Funeral Chapel has charge of arrangements.

Alice was born on March 27, 1932 in Lampasas County to John Bert Langford and Ruth Nuckles Langford. She grew up in the Unity Community.

She graduated from Lampasas High School in 1948. She was a baton twirler for the Lampasas Badgers, Football Sweetheart, LHS Student Body Favorite and a member of the LTP spirit club.

After high school, Alice attended Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, where she received a bachelor of science degree in elementary education. She was named Miss TCU in 1950 and was an active twirler for the Horned Frogs football team.

Alice was a housewife who raised two sons in Irving, a teacher and a real estate agent. She also was a charter member of the Lampasas chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution and Daughters of the Republic of Texas, a member of the Thursday Luncheon Club, and a member of the School Creek Baptist Church congregation.

She married William Thomas Rush in 1952 in Lampasas. They were married for 41 years.

Alice enjoyed researching her family's genealogy records, riding horses and entertaining guests, family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; son William Robert Rush; and siblings Jean Marie Langford, John Bert Langford and Joseph Henry Langford.

Alice is survived by her son Michael Thomas Rush, and wife, Suzanne, and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
