Wanda F. Payne, 88, of Lampasas died on April 24, 2022 at her residence.
Services will be private. Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel has charge of arrangements.
Wanda was born in Lometa on Nov. 25, 1933 to K.L. Lindsey and Pearl (Walker) Lindsey.
She was active at First United Methodist Church in Lampasas for many years and worked as a volunteer in the nursery. She also taught Sunday School in New Jersey and in Spain on the Air Force base while her husband was stationed there.
Wanda loved to cook, was known for her pinto beans and enjoyed making food to deliver to the fire department. Wanda also was a volunteer with the American Red Cross, and a member of the Gray Ladies for four years and earned several citations.
She was preceded in death by her six siblings.
Survivors include her husband of 71 years, Rodger E. Payne; sons Ronald Payne (Emma), Russell Payne (Cheryl) and James Payne (Suikey); daughters April Neely (Wilson) and Kathryn Payne; a sister, Beatrice Templeton; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
