Janice Kay Meeks, 82, formerly of Lometa and Bryan, died on Feb. 12, 2023, in Cedar Park.
Visitation will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel on Feb. 24 from 6-8 p.m. Graveside services will be at Long Cove Cemetery in Lometa on Feb. 25 at 2 p.m.
Janice was born on July 25, 1940 in Santa Anna to Louis Darrell Whitley and Juanita Alexander Whitley.
She grew up in Adamsville and Lampasas, and graduated from Lampasas High School in 1958.
After high school, Janice pursued a career in nursing in Amarillo, where she met Jimmy Wayne Meeks. They were married on Sept. 4, 1959, in Amarillo and were married for 50 years.
Together they adopted two children, Treon Kay and Regina Ann, and Janice became a full-time homemaker.
The family moved to Colorado in 1970 and remained there until 1984, when they returned to their roots in Texas.
Janice was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Wayne Meeks; stepfather, Otho Stephens; aunt and uncle, Velma and Bill Price; grandson, Zachary Cordova; and by her sistersin- law and brothers-in-law Jo and Bill Austin, Tiva and Lee Jackson, and Lou Lynch.
Janice is survived by her daughters Treon Beavers of Dumas and Regina Hallmark (Kevin) of Florence; her brother, Jack (Lamuang “Nang”) Whitley, of Don Wai, Thailand; grandchildren Adrian Joseph Cordova, Seth Andrew Hallmark, Logan Ryan Hallmark and Abigail Laine Hallmark; greatgrandchildren Azlynn Jai and Adrian Joseph Cordova Jr., Aliyah Joi Cordova-Najera, Zachary David Cordova Jr., and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
