Myrtice Macomber died on Oct. 8, 2023, at the age of 99 in Lampasas, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born Dec. 8, 1923 in Jarrell, in Williamson County.
Myrtice is survived by her son, Walt Birchfield and his wife, Joanne; her grandchildren Walter L. Birchfield and wife Lisa, Gregory Birchfield and wife Angie, Amy Shannon Birchfield, Vincent Birchfield, Michael Birchfield and Dennis Birchfield; 17 greatgrandchildren and 1 greatgreat grandchild.
Myrtice was preceded in death by her father, Willie B. Denham, and her mother, Eunice Harrison Denham, as well as her husbands James Birchfield and Frank Macomber.
She attended Jarrell Primary School and finished her education at Georgetown High School.
After school, she went to work at a cleaners in Austin and later moved to California, where she worked at Lever Brothers soap factory. Myrtice retired from there and then dedicated herself to caring for her mother, who lived to the age of 100.
In her leisure time, Myrtice found joy in various hobbies. She loved baking, was a skilled seamstress, avid gardener and talented quilter. These activities allowed her to express her creativity.
Myrtice was a member at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Georgetown and also the United Methodist Church in Lometa.
A memorial service will be held Oct. 20 from 5-7 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home in Lampasas, and on Oct. 21 at St. John’s Methodist Church in Georgetown, with visitation at 1 p.m., and the service at 2 p.m. A reception will follow.
