Mrs. Dowdy

Rebecca Virginia Dowdy died on Aug. 10, 2023, in Schulenburg.

Funeral services will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel in Lampasas on Aug. 16 at 11 a.m., with visitation an hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville.

Rebecca was born on Aug. 3, 1931, in Gainesville, Texas to Ben Dudenhoeffer and Virginia (Odom) Dudenhoeffer.

She grew up in Amarillo and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1947. After high school, she was a bookkeeper/accountant for Austin ISD Food Services. After she retired, she and Dan moved to Lampasas.

She was a member of First Baptist Church. Rebecca started the Triple L (Live, Laugh, Love) Club and organized many activities, birthday celebrations and trips for the members. Lampasas Mission was another of her endeavors. Many hours of volunteer work were dedicated to serving people in need.

Rebecca married Dan Dowdy in 1948 in Mangum, Oklahoma. They were married for 64 years.

Rebecca enjoyed reading and studying her Bible, playing card games, dominoes, cooking, volunteering, traveling and serving others. She loved her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren dearly. Rebecca was preceded in death by her husband, Dan; her son, Ray Dowdy; and two brothers, Paul Dudenhoeffer and Joe Dudenhoeffer.

She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Dahse (Howard); five grandchildren, Aaron Hilscher, Heather Mangum, Justin Dowdy, Natalie Hooker and Reagan Dowdy; and nine greatgrandchildren.
