Gary Gene Tobias, 83, died on Aug. 16, 2021, at his residence in Lampasas.
Visitation will be held at Sneed Funeral Chapel from 5-7 p.m. Aug. 24.
Graveside services are set for Aug. 25 at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen at 11 a.m., followed by a memorial celebration at First United Methodist Church in Lampasas at 1:30 p.m.
Gary was born on Feb. 23, 1938, in Great Bend, Kansas to Elmer and Viola (Parker) Tobias. He graduated from Great Bend High School in 1956.
He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1957 and served for four years. He was honorably discharged with the rank of airman first class.
After the Air Force, Gary attended Kansas State University, where he received a Bachelor of Science in industrial arts education. He went on to Kansas State College of Pittsburg where he received an M.S. in industrial education in May 1968.
After college, Gary primarily worked in the electronics field in multiple capacities, retiring in 2011.
He married Charlotte Henry in 1957 in Great Bend, and they were married for 23 years.
In 1982, Gary married Sandra Jackson, and they were married for 38 years.
Gary had been a member of the United Methodist Church for 17 years and sang in the choir.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra, and a sister, Shirley Spitzmiller.
Survivors include sisters Beverly (James) Roberts, Judy Burke and Debbie (Shane) Potter; sons Bradley Scott Tobias and Randall Lee Tobias, both of Wichita, Kansas, and David Allen Tobias of Bailey, Colorado; seven grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
