James Michael Sims Jr., known as MJ or Brotherman by family and friends, died July 19, 2022 in Copperas Cove.
Visitation will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel in Lampasas on July 27 from noon to 2 p.m. The family would people to wear purple for MJ. His body will be cremated.
MJ was born on Sept. 12, 1994 in Temple to James Michael Sims and Michelle Owens Sims. He grew up in Harker Heights.
His passions in life were writing music, drawing and rapping. He also loved to talk and would “speak his truth” to anyone who would listen. He had a brilliant smile. MJ was one of a kind.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Kandy and Billy Sims, and by his grandfather, Michael Owens.
Survivors include his parents, Mike and Michelle; four sisters, Shandi Rogans, Alyssa “Yaya” Sacco and husband Tony, Macie “Sisterman” Sims and Miranda Sims; grandmothers Cydney Cummins and Lumduan Sims; nephew, Brayden; nieces Kennedy, Madilyn and Makenzie; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.
