Craymon was born on June 19, 1931 to Eric Gerald Myers and Vera Jeanette Hupperich Myers in Terry, Mississippi, where he later would meet the love of his life, Barbara Jane Tipton Myers.
They were married on Jan. 23, 1953, at Bethesda Baptist Church in Terry.
Also known as Bill, Brother Bill and Trouble to some, he had a passion for life and loved God, family and his country.
Craymon joined the United States Army in 1951 and spent 29-plus years all over the world before retiring at Fort Hood in March 1981 at the highest non-commissioned officer rank of command sergeant major. He served in the Korean War, where he was injured in combat, on bases stateside at the Pentagon and Fort Hood, as well as several military bases in Germany and Thailand.
After retiring from military service and settling with his family in Lampasas, he went to work for Phillips Implements, the local John Deere dealer, as the parts manager until moving to Mustang Equipment in Marble Falls. Before fully retiring, he worked for CA Myers Electric.
Bill was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. In the mid-’80s he established an annual trip to Pagosa Springs, Colorado. At the age of 92, he made his final trip there with his brother, son, grandson and friends.
Family was important to him. He could be found at football games, track meets, plays, concerts and livestock shows, supporting kids, grandkids, great-grands and neighborhood kids alike.
For years, as his health and the weather permitted, he would travel to Illinois and Mississippi to spend time with family and friends. He loved his travels down memory lane on the back roads of Terry, Mississippi while visiting his siblings, where no trip was complete without boiled peanuts, watermelon and fried catfish at Cock of the Walk.
