DEATHS
Jeffrey J. McMurtry, 62, of Kempner died at his home on July 31, 2022.
He was born on Sept. 23, 1959 in Minnesota to James and Ellen McMurtry.
Mr. McMurtry had lived in Kempner since 2011, movingthere from Boerne.
He and Patricia were married on June 18, 1988, in Colorado.
He retired from the United States Army in 2018. Jeff had served one tour of duty in Iraq and one in Afghanistan, as an RN in the trauma unit, treating many burn victims. He treated civilians as well as enlisted patients. Jeff loved being an RN and helping others in that capacity.
His joy came from being outdoors. He loved biking, swimming and especially hiking with his family in Colorado, California and Texas.
After retirement, he adored being “Grandpa Care” for his two granddaughters.
Mr. McMurtry was an avid reader, always having a book on hand.
Jeff is survived by his parents, of Kempner; his wife of Kempner; one son, Sean, and wife Anna of Kempner; one daughter, Erin, and husband Donald of Boerne; one sister, Susan, of Reno, Nevada; and two granddaughters.
The funeral with military honors for Mr. McMurtry will be at Central Texas Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.
