Retired 1 st Sgt. Billie C. Jones of Anniston, Alabama died Jan. 27, 2022.
Bill was born in Gatesville, Texas, on Oct. 25, 1931 to W.T. Jones and Jennie Sims Jones. When he was a young boy, the family moved to Lampasas, where he grew up.
He joined the U.S. Army and served 20 years until he retired. He and his family returned to Lampasas, where they lived for several years.
After his first wife died, Bill moved to Anniston, Alabama to be with his new wife, Rose. They lived there until his death.
Bill is survived by his wife, Rosa Jones; son, Charles and Dee Dee Jones; daughter-in-law, Janice Jones; sister-in-law, Edith Jones; seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and his stepchildren Linda and Buddy Greenway, Margaret Sloan, and Judy and Lewis Austin.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Varda Verdell Jones; a son, Donald Jones Sr.; a sister, Jessie Springer; brothers T.J. Jones and Alvin Wayne Jones; and stepdaughter Nancy Bruce.
