Danny Lee Hurt, 60, died on June 1, 2022, at AdventHealth Central Texas in Killeen.
Danny chose cremation, and a graveside service will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery on June 18 at 10:30 am. Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel has charge of arrangements.
Danny was born Dec. 8, 1961, in Brownwood to Lewis Elliott Hurt and Rita Joyce Chancellor Hurt. He grew up and attended school in Lampasas.
After high school, he served in the U.S. Army.
Following his time in the service, Danny’s love of music, concerts and playing the drums led him to a position at the Frank Erwin Center, where he enjoyed working backstage with the numerous concerts that came through Austin in the late 1980s.
He then focused his career as a logistics contractor with Brown & Root/Zachary. He worked in numerous overseas locations including Nairobi, Kenya; Mogadishu, Somalia; Bosnia; and the American Embassy in Moscow, Russia. He worked stateside in California and Houston before returning to the Central Texas area.
He married Yuliya Stinova in Moscow, and they had one child. Danny was devoted to raising his son, Dmitri.
Danny fought several cancer battles successfully through the years until he lost his most recent battle.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother-in-law, Michael Newman; and a nephew, Tyson Newman.
Survivors include his son, Dmitri Hurt of Copperas Cove; brother, Tony Hurt of Round Rock; sister, Anita Newman of Lampasas; niece, Heather Newman of Kempner; and nephew, Houston Hurt of Round Rock.
