Mr. Forbes

Leroy Leland Forbes Sr., 79, of Lampasas, died on Sept. 11, 2021 at AdventHealth Rollins Brook.

Memorial services will be held Sept. 27 at First Street Church of Christ. Interment with military honors and Masonic rights will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Leroy was born Sept. 1, 1942 in Bell County to James Henry Forbes and Anita Stoll Forbes.

He was a Vietnam veteran who received the Purple Heart, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Gold Star, Good Conduct Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Combat Action Ribbon and served in the U.S. Navy until he retired in 1985.

Leroy was a Master Mason, a Shriner and a member of Saratoga Masonic Lodge #546.

Leroy and his wife together were heavily involved with Boy Scouts, both on a local level where he served as leader of Troop 200, as a district executive and through First Street Church of Christ, as well as on a national level. They also were foster parents for many years.

Leroy enjoyed working on his ranch. He was a longtime member of First Street Church of Christ in Lampasas.

He was preceded in death by three brothers.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Wanda Forbes; sons Leroy Leland Forbes Jr., Eric Forbes, Michael Forbes, David Forbes and Jeremy Forbes; stepchildren Ronnie Boivin, Rhonda Arapis and Randy Boivin; sisters Elsie and Anita; and numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.
