Chester “Sid” Leach, 78, of Lometa, Texas, passed away on October 16, 2026, leaving behind a family who loved him dearly and countless friends who will forever remember his quick wit, his words of wisdom, and his unmistakable ability to bring laughter into any room.
Sid proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1967 to 1973. He was a Marine through and through, carrying that pride with him throughout his life.
He was a man with a strong spirit, a sharp sense of humor, and a comeback for just about anything. You never had to wonder what Sid was thinking, and if you gave him the opportunity, you were likely to get a quick-witted response that would leave you laughing. He always had something to say, a story to tell, or a little wisdom to share with anyone willing to listen.
Sid was truly the life of the party. He had a way of making people laugh and making ordinary moments memorable.
His presence could fill a room, and his humor and personality left an impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. He knew how to enjoy life, and he made sure those around him enjoyed it, too.
Above all else, Sid loved his family. His grandchildren meant the world to him, and his great-grandchildren were especially the light of his life. They brought him a kind of joy that words could never fully express. Whether sharing a laugh, offering a little advice, or simply being together, those family moments were among life’s greatest treasures to him. His love for them will remain a lasting part of his legacy.
Sid is survived by his two daughters, Janie Leach and Misti Brown; his brother, Layton Leach; his granddaughters, Cydnei Harris and her husband, Tyler Harris, and Taylor Wiesemann and her husband, Mark Wiesemann; and his grandsons, Bradley Cole and his wife, Victoria; Stetson Brown; Preston Cole; Shane Brown; Skylar Harding; and Levi Brown.
He also leaves behind his beloved greatgrandchildren, Michael Harris, Maverick Jones, Emberly Harris, Everly Harris, Easton Harris, and Jasper Cole, who brought so much happiness and light into his life.
Sid was preceded in death by his mother, Maudie Ann Cook Leach; his father, Brice Leach; his beloved wife, Sissy Leach; his son, Clayton Brice Leach; his daughter, Melissa Leach; his granddaughter, Willow Brooke Dubose; his great-grandson, Greyson Curtis; his brothers, Winston Leach, Melvin Leach, Marvin Leach, and Vernon Leach; and his sister, Sybil Gasinski.
Though Sid’s passing leaves a tremendous hole in the hearts of those who loved him, the memories he created will never fade. His quick-witted comebacks, his words of wisdom, his laughter, and his largerthan- life personality will be remembered for generations. Those who knew Sid can take comfort in knowing that even in his absence, he will continue to bring smiles to faces as stories are told and memories are shared.
And knowing Sid, he would probably have a comeback ready for just about anything we could say about him.
