As a hot summer continues into a scorching fall, water conservation efforts are more important than ever. For Lometa residents, water line breaks have been a point of concern, though the city isn’t in as rough a spot as its Lampasas County counterparts in terms of drought conditions.

With unbearably hot summertime conditions persisting across the state, the Electric Reliability Council of Texas is asking residents to voluntarily reduce their electricity use, if safe to do so, due to the extreme temperatures, forecasted high demand and lower reserves.

A Midland man is set for trial this week on child sexual assault charges, and two more facing similar charges have been scheduled for trial dates in the coming months. Kasey Shannon Calvery, 44, will face charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child in a trial by jury that was to have begun on Monday.

First-day enrollment numbers for the 202324 school year have increased slightly at each Lampasas ISD campus, except for Taylor Creek Elementary School. A total of 3,485 students were enrolled in the school district on Aug.

The Kiwanis Club of Lampasas is offering 22 pounds of Colorado peaches for $50 a box. Pick-up will be from 9-11 a.m.

The Lampasas County Higher Education Center has struggled to find staff for its phlebotomy and Patient Care Technician courses, Director Derrick Barrios said this week. Currently, LCHEC is offering only its Clinical Medical Assistant and Nurse Aide courses.
