Kempner Water Supply Corp. members turned out in good numbers at Wednesday night’s board meeting, held at the Kempner Volunteer Fire Department. More than 100 KWSC customers were present for the session.

The Friday night high school football tradition is set to commence for another season at Badger Field, and the stadium is decorated with new flags displaying school and state pride. Lampasas will compete tonight with the Elgin Wildcats in a Senior Night matchup at the home stadium. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.

The Lampasas Public Library will host a dog adoption event Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the park area behind the library. Dogs from Lampasas Animal Shelter will be available to adopt at no cost. Yard games also will be set up to enjoy.

As a hot summer continues into a scorching fall, water conservation efforts are more important than ever. For Lometa residents, water line breaks have been a point of concern, though the city isn’t in as rough a spot as its Lampasas County counterparts in terms of drought conditions.

With unbearably hot summertime conditions persisting across the state, the Electric Reliability Council of Texas is asking residents to voluntarily reduce their electricity use, if safe to do so, due to the extreme temperatures, forecasted high demand and lower reserves.
