Classics group to gather on Saturday

Classics at the Classic -- a local group of car enthusiasts -- will meet in the back parking lot of Storm’s Drive-In this weekend for its monthly gathering. Anyone interested is invited to stop by and see the vehicles and visit with the owners.

Taylor Creek principal gives campus update

Taylor Creek Elementary School Principal Mark Sheppard provided his annual campus report to Lampasas ISD’s Board of Trustees at their meeting Monday.

GOP, Democrat Party both will feature propositions on March 3

When voters go to the polls for the March 3 primary elections, candidates for federal, state and county races will not be the only considerations.Voters in both the Republican Party Primary and the Democratic Party Primary will have policy positions on which they can cast a “Yes” or “No” vote.

Filing deadline nears for school board, municipal elections

Only one week remains in the filing period for local city council and school board elections.To file an application for a position on the ballot, potential candidates should contact the individual entities below. Applications must be completed and turned in by 5 p.m. Feb. 13.Election day is May 2.

ARRESTS

The following arrests were reported to the Lampasas Dispatch Record by area law enforcement officials. The Dispatch Record prints the name and charge(s) of people arrested on at least one Class B misdemeanor – or more serious – charge.

DISTRICT COURT

Lampasas County 27th District Court convened several times in January. Judge Debbie Garrett presided over the criminal proceedings.In Jan. 23 action: Dakota Brian Fralin of Lampasas pleaded guilty and was found guilty of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Retired Army veteran seeks District 31 seat

William Abel of Copperas Cove, a retired combat veteran, is making a bid in the Republican primary for the District 31 congressional seat.Abel said his campaign is built on the principles of accountability, freedom and fiscal responsibility.

CARR to take over county bus services beginning in March

Lampasas County will officially switch bus services to the Central Texas Rural Transit District -- also known as City and Rural Rides, or CARR -- on March 2.
