Tree trimming continues near power lines

The city of Lampasas has contracted with McCoy Tree Surgery to perform trimming services around power lines in residential areas of town, generally west of Key Avenue and between Sixth Street and North Avenue. The work is scheduled to continue into March.

City eyes February for city manager contract

As the search for a new Lampasas city manager continues, there now appears to be a timeline in place.Prior to the arrival of the recent winter weather, the city was scheduled to hold interviews on Tuesday with several candidates, but those were canceled when the city offices closed.

Clear skies expected after slow thaw

Thawing was still in progress Wednesday night in parts of Lampasas County after the area received a wintry precipitation mix over the weekend.Snow and ice remained in some neighborhoods for a fifth consecutive night, even under sunny skies and afternoon temperatures in the 50s.

TPWD to hold workshops for landowners

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department has several upcoming workshops that could benefit area landowners.A Wildlife Tax Valuation Workshop is set for March 20 in Hamilton. The sessions will extend from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church Family Life Center, 212 E. Coke St.

Burn ban lifted temporarily

The countywide burn ban has been lifted until Sunday at 5 p.m. Property owners are urged to exercise caution when burning.
