LCSO investigates shooting death

Lampasas County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a 57-year-old man after his stepson reportedly shot him in a domestic dispute. LCSO deputies responded to the 2100 block of County Road 3790 to a report of a shooting on Thursday afternoon at 1:34 p.m.

Hydroponics program planned for Feb. 10 at Kempner farm

Yield Here Farms will sponsor an “Intro to Hydroponics” program Feb. 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 2662 Snow Rd. in Kempner. Participants will learn about hands-on, do-it-yourself systems, maintenance and nutrients, and commercial systems. Breakfast, lunch and snacks are included.

Kempner internet tower nears completion

Completion of Kempner’s Altitude ISP internet tower is coming soon, company officials said Wednesday. Development of the tower has been ongoing since early last year.

City announces water leak; boil notice rescinded for those affected by repair

The city of Lampasas announced a water leak Tuesday at 8 a.m. affecting homes and businesses on several county roads within the city limits. A boil water notice issued for an isolated area following the repair was rescinded Thursday at 11:30 a.m.

DISTRICT COURT

Lampasas County 27th District Court convened last week with Judge John Gauntt presiding over the day’s hearings. Defendant Cody Coleman Driver of Copperas Cove was sentenced to 12 months in state jail on a charge of theft of property less than $2,500 with two or more previous convictions.
