Drainage project commences along highway

A Texas Department of Transportation project along South U.S. Highway 281 started this week, with drainage improvements to begin the initial phase. Motorists should expect some delays from the E.E. Ohnmeiss intersection at the Hostess House south past Lampasas High School to the Burnet County line.

TxDOT begins U.S. 281 work near high school; Hostess House entrance to be relocated

The Texas Department of Transportation started construction efforts Monday on its road improvement project from the Burnet-Lampasas County line to the Central Texas Expressway/ U.S. Highway 281 intersection by Sulphur Creek. Construction has begun later than the anticipated fall 2023 start time.

Precinct 1 County Commissioner Bobby Carroll has several projects he would like to see completed for Lampasas County. That is among the reasons motivating him to seek another term on the Lampasas County Commissioners Court.

KWSC notifies of main line break

Kempner Water Supply Corporation announced a break in a main line on Monday afternoon. In a message to members sent at 4:14 p.m., KWSC officials said construction crews in the area of Mattew Spicer Road struck and broke a water line, affecting water service to customers.

The Lampasas High School UIL Academic team traveled to Round Rock High School recently for a day of competition practice and preparation. Several students returned with nice awards for their efforts. Veronica Butler earned first place in copy editing.
