Tuesday was Election Day, and area voters headed to the polls to choose Republican and Democratic nominees for the General Election in November. Early voting ended Feb.

The statewide average gasoline price in Texas is $3.37 for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel, according to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch. That price is 15 cents more than the price two weeks ago and 92 cents more per gallon compared to the same day last year.

The Lampasas City Council approved two improvement projects for the Lampasas Public Library using American Recovery Plan Act funds. The first project will connect the library to the city’s fiber optic network.

DRT PROGRAM The Oran Milo Roberts Chapter of Daughters of the Republic of Texas invites the public to a presentation by former state historian Bill O’Neal on Audie Murphy, one of the nation’s most decorated veterans of World War II. The program will be Monday at 5:30 p.m., upstairs at the Hostess House in Hancock Park.

The city of Lampasas will offer its spring brush-chipping program March 7 through April 1. The pick-up dates, areas of service and rules for the program are as follows: • March 7-11 — Northwest section of the city.

Former Florida congressman and retired Army lieutenant colonel Allen West visited Lampasas Sunday afternoon during his campaign for Texas governor. The Republican candidate stopped by the courthouse for about an hour to meet area residents. MONIQUE BRAND
