Misty Wakeman, who was appointed last year to the seat of Precinct 1 justice of the peace, will remain at her post after prevailing in Tuesday's Republican Primary Election.

The Lampasas County Commissioners Court turned down two county road upgrades that would’ve been funded by the Texas Department of Transportation. Both roads are located in Precinct 1, represented by Commissioner Bobby Carroll.

The repaired headstone of sheriff Albertus Sweet, who served Lampasas from 1873-1878, is to be unveiled during a short program March 7 at 2 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery.

The first 2022 Green Thumb program sponsored by the Highland Lakes Master Gardeners will be March 18 from 1-2 p.m. at Lakeshore Library, 7346 Ranch Road 261 in Buchanan Dam.

The Nix School Community Center Committee has announced that the center may need to close its doors permanently. With a yearly budget of approximately $3,000 to cover insurance and utilities, there is not enough funding for repairs that the building requires, the committee said.
