Vanee Foods, a Broadview, Illinois establishment, is recalling approximately 9,564 pounds of chickenflavored base product due to misbranding and undeclared allergens, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced.

Dump truck overturns after avoiding school bus

A 42-year-old woman traveling on Farm to Market Road 580 East rolled her vehicle after noticing a stopped school bus on Thursday at 7:15 a.m. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety’s incident report, the school bus was not involved in the rollover.

The report from the Feb. 7 Lampasas Cattle Auction follows. Cattle and calves: Total cattle 604, compared to 742 last sale and 603 at this time last year. Compared to last sale, feeder steers and heifers were unevenly steady. Slaughter cows were $2-$4 lower, and slaughter bulls $1-$3 lower.

Gas leak on Key Avenue labeled false alarm

A reported natural gas leak near South Key Avenue was deemed a “mystery” after Atmos Energy staff was unable to discover any leak early Thursday afternoon.

The Texas Department of Transportation is planning to axe its proposed Lampasas Relief Route project. Instead, TxDOT officials will focus on the Interstate-14 work it has begun. TxDOT said it will finalize and complete its executive summary of the Lampasas Relief Route by the end of 2024.

The city of Lampasas is yet to follow suit with the Kempner Water Supply Corp. in reducing the water restrictions imposed on customers. The Lampasas City Council, however, is expected to weigh in at Monday’s regular meeting on possibly downgrading the restrictions.
