The Browning Garden Club will hold its monthly meeting Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the building behind the Kempner Fire Department on Pecan Street.

EDITOR’S NOTE: The broken tombstone of former Lampasas County Sheriff Albertus Sweet was rededicated March 7 in Oak Hill Cemetery by members of the Wild West History Association, which coordinated its repair and helped pay for refurbishment of the monument. Rick Willis gave the opening and closing prayer for the ceremony. Bill O’Neal was the featured speaker, and author Chuck Parsons and local historian Jeff Jackson unveiled the repaired marker. Lampasas County 27 th District Court convened last week with Judge John Gauntt presiding over the day’s hearings. Defendant Joshua Morgan Dupree of Conrad, Montana did not answer when called for his pretrial hearing on a charge of possession of a controlled substance less than 1 gram.

The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service has announced funding opportunities through the National Water Quality Initiative for farmers, ranchers and landowners interested in implementing conservation practices on their property in two high-priority watersheds in Texas. The application deadline is April 29.

The following arrests were reported to the Lampasas Dispatch Record by area law enforcement officials. The Dispatch Record prints the name and charge(s) of people arrested on at least one Class B misdemeanor – or more serious – charge.

The Lampasas County grand jury convened Wednesday as part of its January term. Investigator David Thorp of the Lampasas County Sheriff’s Office offered information that led to these indictments: John Keith Neimann on a charge of possession of a controlled substancemethamphetamine on Oct.

A public hearing on a possible solar farm is set for Monday morning at 9 a.m., and some residents have voiced opposition to the plan. The Lampasas County Commissioners Court is considering the redesignation of approximately 3,800 acres of land as “under lease or to be under lease in unincorporated Lampasas County,” in a project that qualifies for tax abatement.
