Council OKs construction projects

After lengthy discussion Monday evening, the Lampasas City Council approved a bid for design of the Spring Street plant, a water treatment facility and the Lampasas Animal Shelter. The contract was awarded to M&S Engineering Firm in an amount not to exceed $70,000.

Wild plum trees in bloom across county

Warm temperatures coaxed trees into bloom, such as this wild plum, before the mercury plunged on Wednesday. By this weekend, the area should return to more normal spring-like daytime highs.

Friends of the Night Sky, Lampasas Public Library and the city of Lampasas will host a star party Saturday at the former middle school cafeteria. “The Stars at Night” will take place from 5-9 p.m.

Red flag warning issued until Thursday evening

Lampasas County Judge Randy Hoyer issued a local red flag warning this morning, meaning no outdoor burning will be permitted until 6:00 p.m. Thursday.  The decision comes after high winds and low humidity are expected for the next few days with a cold front arriving tonight.

Bumpus couple to be honored by quarter horse association
