Lampasas County 27 th District Court convened in a special setting March 30 with Judge John Gauntt presiding over the day’s hearings. Defendant Jesse Salazar entered a plea of guilty to two separate charges of possession of a controlled substance less than 1 gram and to one charge of prohibited substance/ item in a correctional facility.

Gone but not forgotten: Old county jail demolished

Within 10 months, the former county jail on East Fourth Street went from being a downtown landmark to a non-existent structure. The jail was built in 1972 to replace an outdated structure at the same site that dated to 1883 and had been condemned by the state health department.

Spring Fest returns to Lampasas after two-year hiatus

More than 300 plant enthusiasts made their way to the bandstand section of the courthouse square on Saturday morning to participate in this year’s Spring Fest. The event, sponsored by the Courtyard Square Association, was the organization’s first since the pandemic.

Rabid skunk confirmed in Lampasas

The Lampasas Police Department confirmed Friday that a skunk found within the city limits has tested positive for rabies. On Thursday, Interim Police Chief Jody Cummings said in a news release the animal was found in the 300 block of Brook Street after authorities received a report of two dogs killing a skunk.
