Mental health crisis leads to highway shutdown on U.S. 183

Highway traffic south of the Lampasas County line was stalled Wednesday morning while law enforcement officers dealt with an armed woman in distress.Burnet County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Mike Sorenson said the situation began with a motorist on U.S. Highway 183 who experienced a mental health crisis.

The upcoming total solar eclipse is an event that has been eagerly anticipated by some, dreaded by others.During a total eclipse, the moon will be positioned such that it totally blocks out the rays of the sun, bringing twilight darkness to the area.
