Kempner donates to Fort Hood fire efforts

Lampasas County residents have assisted several municipalities and organizations with aid for the 33,000-acre fire that has burned on Fort Hood. The city of Kempner collaborated with Taylor Creek Elementary School, 5 Hills Cowboy Church, Keep Nolanville Beautiful and Nolanville Mayor Andy Williams to support the Gatesville Fire Department, which is helping to battle the fire in neighboring Coryell County.

Farmers market set to return

Leader chosen for Christian academy

April Dwamena has been hired as headmistress of Providence Christian Academy of Lampasas, which is scheduled to open for the 2022-2023 school year. The academy will be housed at First United Methodist Church.

Youth participate in mission to help community residents

The youth group at First United Methodist Church participated March 11-13 in a service mission for local residents, helping some elderly and disabled individuals with home repairs and lawn work. “It was really a see-a-need/ fill-a-need type of situation,” Youth Pastor John Groves said.

DISTRICT COURT

Lampasas County 27 th District Court convened last week with Judge John Gauntt presiding over the day’s hearings. Defendant Billy Joe Kirkham of Lampasas had adjudication hearings, at which he entered a plea of true to a charge of stalking and to a charge of burglary of a building.

No injuries reported from plane crash

A small, single-engine plane crashed Wednesday afternoon as it was attempting to take off at Lampasas Municipal Airport. This marks the second plane crash within the county this year.
